August 2015

August was a big month as we welcomed another niece into the family.  Lily Ann was born August 5th and weighed 10lbs 2 oz and 22 inches long.  She is adorable!

After heading up to the hospital to meet Lily, we were on our way to the 25th Annual Beach Mo trip in Saint Joe's, Michigan.  Being the enthusiastic family that we are, the conference room was decked out in silver and we had a wonderful time as always!

One weekend in August, we rented a pontoon boat with the Farnsworth and Koutsis.  We spent the day lounging in the lake a driving the boat around Portage Lakes  We stopped at a local restaurant, docked, and had a nice lunch.  It was so great spending time with such dear friends.

At an auction earlier this year, we won tickets to a Cleveland Orchestra concert.  We packed a picnic and a bottle of wine and sat on a blanked while we listened to the orchestra play songs by The Beatles and other groups from that era.  We sat with Pete's coworker and his wife and had a great time.

Pete and I celebrated our 9 year wedding anniversary this month.  We toasted to nine years of wedded bliss while watching our old wedding video and reception footage.  It was fun to reminisce.

Pete's company had a family day at Sluggers and Putter in later August.  The kids each got a gift and wrist band for unlimited rides.  They rode go-carts (Claire drove her own), roller coasters, bumper cars, and a variety of other rides.  It was a beautiful, hot summer day and the kids were exhausted come night time.

No August would be complete without the kids starting a new school year.  This year Claire started 2nd grade and Grace started kindergarden.  I was nervous about how my shyest child (Grace) would do in this new environment.  I can tell you that she has not only come out of her shell but I will venture to say that she may actually talk more than Claire!  Those that know our family know that this is a very difficult thing to achieve :)

Prior to Kindergarten, kids go to something called "Safety Town" where they learn about police man, firefighters, bike safety and stranger danger.  At the end of the week, they have a graduation.  Here are pictures from the graduation.

Sluggers and Putters

We went up to visit Mike and Sarah and had a nice dinner with them.

We ended the month with Claire's broken arm.  We were on a family bike ride and her front tire hit the curb the wrong way and she fell off her bike.  She immediately said her wrist hurt but we weren't convinced it was broken because she was able to move it very easily.  Much to our surprise, it was broken.  Poor Claire Bear!
